About

The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain was designed by Frank Gehry and opened in 1991. It is composed of curves clad in shimmering titanium, and blocks made of limestone with glass windows. Outside stands Louise Bourgeois's Maman, an enormous sculpture of a spider made of bronze, stainless steel, and marble. The sculpture pays tribute to Bourgeois's mother, a weaver.
